研究はなお初期段階にあるが、マウス実験でノロウィルス感染を低減、または除染する効果が確認された。

アビガンの投与で、ノロウィルスが「致死突然変異誘発」と呼ばれる自滅プロセスに至り、事実上、死滅するとしている。
