Carly Schwartz

Editor in Chief, Google Insider

Carly spent two years running The Huffington Post’s San Francisco bureau and two years as the company’s Deputy National Editor in New York. Then she turned 30 and decided moving to Latin America alone would make things more interesting. She lived in Mexico for most of last year as a Kiva Fellow working on microfinance and development projects. Now she runs the Kalu Yala media lab, a journalism institute in Panama where students from all over the world experiment with innovative ways to tell stories about sustainability. Carly likes to write about environmental issues, drug policy and international development. She's spoken on a number of current affairs panels at San Francisco's Commonwealth Club, and her articles appear regularly on The Huffington Post and Quartz. She graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and loves biking, Burning Man, redwood trees, and practicing Mexican slang.
