古典的名画に欠けているのは、「リラックスした太った猫」だったのだ！ 以下の作品がその証拠だ。
題材：ボッティチェリ作「ヴィーナスの誕生」
「Fat Cat Art（太った猫のアート）」シリーズを制作しているロシア人芸術家スヴェトラーナ・ペトロワ氏は、BBCの取材に対してこう語っている。「2008年に母が、猫のツァラトゥストラを残して亡くなりました。母の死後、私はひどく落ち込んでしまい、2年間、創作活動ができずにいました。そんな時、ある友人が、“猫をモチーフにして作品を作ったら？ ツァラトゥストラはとてもおかしな猫だから”と言ってくれたのです」
というわけで、このプロジェクトが誕生した。有名な絵画の高解像度コピーに、デジタル処理を施したツァラトゥストラの写真を差し込み、古いキャンバスの風合いを出すためにペトロワ氏が色を加えたのだ。ペトロワ氏が自らの使命を見つけたのは、私たちにとって幸運としか言いようがない。

ペトロワ氏の作品は、イギリスで開催される展覧会「Russian Extremes -- From Icons to I-Cats（ロシア急進派－アイコンからアイキャットまで）」に展示される。場所はオックスフォードシャーのストーンヒルにあるカントリーハウスイベント会場「The Barn」、期間は2014年5月30日から6月5日まで。
スライドショーでは、また別のアーティスト、スーザン・ハーバートが描いた「ラファエル前派（19世紀イギリスの芸術家運動）の猫たち」を紹介している。
