猫が鳴き声を上げる、10の理由

海外の猫ブログ「CATS PARADISE」にて、「10 Reasons why your cat is meowing」と題された記事を見つけました。

猫により個性はありますので、この10の理由に限らないとは思いますが、ご参考までに。

海外の猫ブログ「CATS PARADISE」にて、「10 Reasons why your cat is meowing」と題された記事を見つけました。直訳すると、あなたの飼い猫が鳴く、10の理由。猫としては「わかってないね、やれやれ、これだから人間ってやつは」と言いたいこともあるでしょうが、10の理由として挙げられていたのは、以下の理由でした。

  1. Injured：ケガをした

  2. Greeting：挨拶

  3. Hungry：ご飯はまだか

  4. Attention：我に注目せよ

  5. Stressed：ストレスを感じている

  6. Upset：動揺している

  7. Feeling Isolated：独りにするな

  8. Old Age：加齢

  9. Open the Door：ドアを開けろ（と訴える）

  10. In heat：発情している

猫と暮らす方々には、おおよそ思い当たる、経験されたことのある理由ではないかと思われます。上記の理由から類推するに、飼い主として念頭に置きたいのは、「平常時は鳴く必要がない」ということです。鳴く姿や声はかわいいものですが、鳴くからには、何かしら「なんとかしろ」と訴える理由があるわけで、なるべくそういったストレスを取り除いて、不必要に鳴き声をあげずに済むよう、猫の下僕としては精進する所存であります。もしくは、鳴き声のみならず、視線や態度だけでも猫の気持ちを察せられるよう、猫共感力のアンテナを高める努力が求められているのかもしれません。

猫ミュニケーション検定の創設が期待されますが、とりあえずは、長期間鍛錬を積めるよう、猫も自らも長生きするのがよろしいかと存じます。
