これはロンドン交通局が進めている「イヤー・オブ・ザ・バス」キャンペーンの一部である。バスはロンドン市民にとって欠くことのできない交通手段となっているが、今年は第1次世界大戦で大型一般自動車が兵士たちを前線へと運んだ時から100年の節目にあたるという。

2週間かけて作られたこのバス停は約10万個のレゴブロックでできており、7月15日まで利用することができる。

「リージェント・ストリートは毎日数えきれないほどの人々で賑わっています」ロンドン交通局で陸上交通業務取締役を務めるレオン・ダニエルズさんはこう語る。「このユニークなバス停が、険しい表情を浮かべた通勤途中の人々に笑顔をもたらすことを願っています」

この取り組みは確かに人々の笑顔を誘っているようだ。
