SumoCouponはいろいろなお店での割引サービスを提供しているアメリカのウェブサイトだ。このSumoCouponが、アメリカの各州でどの商品が一番ググられているかを分析して、「2014年のホリデーシーズンでいちばん人気のあるプレゼント」マップを作った。グーグルの検索数に加えて「昔から人気のおもちゃと最近人気のおもちゃ・ゲームを厳選したリスト」も使った、と同社はハフィントンポストのメール取材に答えている。
ディズニーの「アナと雪の女王」関連のおもちゃが2014年のヒットになるであろうことは誰でもわかるだろう。一方、野球のグローブやバービー人形といったアメリカの昔ながらのプレゼントもまだまだ人気ようだ。しかしマップを見てみると、今年最も人気のプレゼントといわれて驚くようなものも含まれている。それぞれの州でどのプレゼントが人気か、マップでぜひチェックしてみてほしい。
