「自転車に乗れた」最新ロボット義手を喜ぶ女性【動画】 | HuffPost Life

生まれつき右手がなかった女性が、ロボットのように駆動する最新鋭の義手を手に入れた。自転車に乗ったり、ウエイトトレーニングまでできるようになったという。

生まれつき右手がなかった女性が、ロボットのように駆動する最新鋭の義手を手に入れた。自転車に乗ったり、ウエイトトレーニングまでできるようになったという。義手を開発したイギリスのスティーパー社が6月16日に発表した。

最新義手「ビーバイオニック3」のイギリス国内で最初に手に入れたのは、ファッション業界で働く29歳のニッキー・アシュウェルさん。この義手は、上腕の筋肉の収縮を感知して、義手が動作するしくみになっている。彼女は、数週間にわたる訓練で、現在ではワイングラスを持つことや、握手など繊細な操作が必要とされる動作まで行うことができるようになった。

アシュウェルさんは「片手でボーイフレンドの手を握りながら、別の手で財布を運ぶことができるというような、ちょっとしたことにもびっくりしました。自転車に乗ったり、ウエイトトレーニングをしたり、今までできなかったこともできるようになったんです」と、両手を使える喜びを露わにした。

イギリス紙テレグラフによると、この最新型のロボット義手は、337個の部品でできており、軍事技術やF1マシンの技術が流用されたという。
