手頃な料金で世界一周を周遊できる「世界一周航空券」は、アライアンスと呼ばれる連合を組む航空会社が発売している。この航空券を使えば、バックパッカーだけでなく社会人にとっても世界一周するチャンスがあるという。
この世界一周を実現する方法を紹介したのが、2014年4月20日に発売された『10日もあれば世界一周』（光文社新書）だ。著者の吉田友和さんは、2006年にベストセラー「してみたい！世界一周」を刊行した後、多くの旅行に関する単行本を執筆している。
本書では、2013年9月のシルバーウィークをフル活用した10日間の世界一周の様子をまとめている。実際の旅程のほかに「美食三昧の食いしん坊旅」や「寒い冬から逃亡するあったか旅」などのルート案も提案。旅に役立つ最低限のガジェット（モバイルの電子機器）や、短い時間で旅先を楽しむ方法なども紹介している。
社会人にも、大型連休や、転職の合間、新婚旅行……など、10日から2週間ほどの休みを確保するチャンスはあるだろう。本書を参考に世界一周してみるのもいいかもしれない。
