大統領専用機「エアフォースワン」が欲しいと思ったことはないだろうか? 今なら米連邦政府一般調達局(General Services Administration:GSA)が運営するオークションサイト「GSA Auctions」で、購入が可能だ!

正確にいえば、大統領専用機が「エアフォースワン」と公式に呼ばれるためには、大統領がそれに乗っている必要がある[Air Force Oneとは、大統領が搭乗した際に米空軍機が使用するコールサイン]。GSA Auctionsによるとこのジェット機は、「もともとは副大統領専用機『エアフォースツー』だったもので、『エアフォースワン』としても使われた可能性もある」という。

競売開始価格は5万ドル。[競売ページによると、競売開始は米国中部標準時で5月15日午前11時。機体はDC-9-32。DC-9は、1965年にダグラス社が初飛行させた双発の小型ジェット旅客機。ダグラス社がマクドネル社、その後ボーイング社と合併を行ったことにより、後継機はMD-80などいろいろな名前をもつことになった。現在エアフォースワンとして利用されているのは、「ボーイング747」を改造した専用機 (VC-25) ]
