イギリスの元サッカー選手、デビッド・ベッカムが6月2日にInstagramに投稿した写真がSNS上で物議を醸している。
アフリカのタンザニアを旅行していたベッカム一家。ベッカムは、どこまでも広がる美しいサバンナで、5歳になる愛娘ハーパーちゃんの唇にキスした写真を投稿。「ダディにキス」とコメントを添えた。
この投稿は、180万以上のいいね！を獲得。パパであるベッカムにはポジティブなコメントがたくさん寄せられたが、いくつか否定的なコメントも見られた。
「嫌な変態」「娘の唇にキスするのはちょっと変わっています」というコメントや、「うんざり」や「気持ち悪い。病んだ男性が小さな娘にキスしてる」などという声が上がったのだ。
こういった声に対して、ベッカムを擁護する親たちもコメントを寄せている。
「私はいつも子どもたちにキスしてるわよ。そうやって子どもたちは愛されていることを学ぶもの。素敵な写真！」「これを間違っているとみなす人は、何か間違っています。私は6歳の息子とキスしています」「とても美しい。うちのパパはいつも娘にキスしています。それは愛情と愛を示すこと」といった肯定的な声も寄せられた。

ベッカムと妻のヴィクトリアには4人の子どもがいる。18歳のブルックリン、14歳のロメオ、12歳のクルーズ、そして5歳の娘ハーパーだ。
なお、ヴィクトリアも、約1年前に似たようなキス写真を投稿している。このときもコメント欄には、「すごく気持ち悪い」「感情的な傷」などの声が寄せられた。
最近では、女優のヒラリー・ダフも、ディズニーランドで息子とキスする写真を投稿している。
