YouTubeに投稿された動画で、ジョシュ・ペイラー・リンさんはホームレスの男性に100ドルを渡したあと内緒で後をつけ、その男性が何にその金を使ったかを探ってみた。

カメラにとらえられたのは、そのホームレスの男性が食料を買い、公園の見知らぬ人たちにそれを配る姿だった。その光景はホームレスの人々に対するリンさんの見方を変えた。

リンさんは「たまげた」という。ホームレスの男性は、きっと酒を買うだろうと思っていたからだ。

「あなたに胸を打たれた」とリンさんはホームレスの男性に自分の気持ちを伝えた。

男性の行為を見て心を動かされたリン氏は、さらに100ドルを彼に寄付することを決めた。

「たまたま置かれた環境の犠牲になってしまった人がたくさんいるんだ」とそのホームレスの男性はリンさんに話した。

「彼らがホームレスになったのは、怠け者だからじゃない…例えば離婚して、それが負の連鎖を起こすんだ。自分のボートを売り、家を売り、ある時、自分が無一文であることに気づく。家がない善良な人々がたくさんいるんだ」。
