アメリカ・カリフォルニア州にあるモントレーベイ水族館で12月20日、野生のラッコは、愛らしい赤ちゃんを出産。翌日、プールに浮かぶママの上に寝転びながら、赤ちゃんはウトウト居眠りしました。

同水族館ではマグロやラッコの保護や調査を行っており、水族館周辺の海に面した保護流域に、広い潮溜まり「グレート・タイド・プール」を設けている。このラッコのお母さんは、赤ちゃんを無事に出産できるところを探し回っているうちに「グレート・タイド・プール」にたどり着いたようだ。

お母さんは、赤ちゃんのグルーミングしながら、泳げるようになるのを見守っています。水族館によれば、親子は野生に戻るまで、ここに滞在するそうです。

お母さんは、赤ちゃんが可愛くて仕方がない様子。

よいしょー。
