イギリス南部イーストボーンで6月13日、103歳の男性と91歳の女性の結婚式が行われ、世界最高齢夫婦が誕生した。時事ドットコムなどが報じた。

結婚式を挙げたのは、新郎のジョージ・カービーさん（103）と新婦のドリーン・ラッキーさん（91）さん。2人の年齢は計194歳で、フランス人夫妻が持つこれまで記録の191歳を上回る世界最高齢の「新婚カップル」となった。

この日、ちょうど103歳の誕生日を迎えたジョージさんとドリーンさんは、約50人のゲストや親族に囲まれ、ギネス世界記録を祝福された。

イギリス「デイリーメール」紙によると、27年間連れ添ったが正式に結婚していなかった2人は、子供たちに結婚を奨められ、ジョージさんが2015年のバレンタインデーにプロポーズしたという。

新郎のジョージさんは「ついにその時が来ました。ドリーンは私を若々しくさせてくれます。そして、私たちは確実に、残りの人生をともに過ごすのです」と語った。新婦のドリーンさんは、もっと早く結婚しなかったことに2人とも後悔していないと語り、「以前は結婚に煩わされたくないと思っていましたから。でも結局は結婚することになったんですけれど」などと語った。

2には、7人の子供を15人の孫、そして7人のひ孫がいる。ジョージさんは94歳まで仕事を続け、ドリーンさんは毎週、海辺でヨガを楽しんでいるという。
