生後16カ月のリード・ラトポジャナクル君は、心の底から驚いた。同じ部屋に父親のスティーブンさんと同じ顔の人がもうひとりいたのだから。わけがわからなくなってしまった。
事の発端は、叔父のマイケルさんがニューヨークにあるスティーブンさんの家にやってきて、リード君をあやそうと抱きかかえたことだ。スティーブンさんとマイケルさんは一卵性の双子。ふたりのパパにリード君が混乱してしまったとニュースサイト「メトロ」は伝えている。
スティーブンさんが、その様子をFacebookに投稿している。父親とおじさんに交代で抱っこされたリード君は、二人を呆然として見つめながらどちらのことも「ダダ（パパ）」と呼んでいる。
父親のスティーブンさんは左側のグレーの洋服を着ている男性で、叔父のマイケルさんは右側の男性だ。動画は現時点で2000万回以上再生されている。
「リードは眼鏡を掛けた僕を見慣れていないんだ。だから混乱して何度も僕とマイケルを何度も見比べていたよ」とスティーブンさんはニュースサイト「BuzzFeed」に語っている。
実は、リード君の母親のキャロルさんも一卵性の双子だ。しかしリード君は、母親の姉妹を見たときは混乱しなかった。
「どれだけ似ていても、赤ちゃんはママのことは絶対にわかる」と父親は話している。
父親はそう簡単ではないらしい。2014年に父親の一卵性双子の兄弟に会った女の子も、リード君と同じように混乱してしまった。

Stephanie Ball Karaffa\n\nIn December of 2011 I was diagnosed with Vasa Previa when I was pregnant with our twins, a very serious complication that landed me on bed rest in the hospital for the remainder of my pregnancy, until they arrived at 32 weeks in January of 2012. Vasa Previa has an extraordinary fetal mortality rate, especially if undiagnosed, and so we weren\'t sure they would even make it into this world safely. This picture, where they are showing each other spontaneous affection and playing, was taken exactly one year after that diagnosis. So to us, it represents our hope that was fulfilled. They are now rambunctious 3 year olds!

Leah Furst Alani\n\nWe always put our twin girls down to sleep in the same bed, but about a foot apart. Every time, they would manage to wind to touching one another. It was like magic because they were able to do this just days after coming home from the hospital. Here they are about a week old.
