ニューヨークでは6月24日から、LGBT（性的マイノリティ）の人権を訴えるためのイベント「NYCプライド」（NYC Pride）が開催されている。
6月28日には、パレードが行われ、多くの人たちが虹色のフラッグを掲げて行進した。主催者によると200万人近くが見物見通しだという。
アメリカの連邦最高裁が6月26日に同性婚の権利を認める判決を出したことを受けて、祝福ムードの中、パレードが行われた。
エンパイア・ステート・ビルもレインボー色に染められた。
