「同性婚は合憲」アメリカ、全ての州で合法に ホワイトハウスもレインボーに染まる

アメリカの連邦最高裁判所は6月26日、同性婚を憲法上の権利として認めるとする判断を示した。この判決により全米で、同性婚が事実上、合法化されることになる。

アメリカの連邦最高裁判所は6月26日、同性婚を憲法上の権利として認めるとする判断を示した。アメリカでは現在、13の州が同性婚を認めていないが、この判決により全米で、同性婚が事実上、合法化されることになる。ハフポストUS版などが報じた。

訴訟は、同性婚を禁止している州のカップルらが起こしたもの。2014年11月、オハイオ、ミシガン、ケンタッキー、テネシーの4つの州を管轄する連邦高等裁判所が、同性婚を認めない判断を示し、最高裁に判断が委ねられていた。

今回の判決では、最高裁判事9人のうち5人が、法の下の平等を保障する合衆国憲法14条などを根拠に、複数の理由から同性婚は認められるべきだと判断。「もう誰も、同性婚の自由を拒否されることはない」などと示した。

これを受けて、オバマ大統領はホワイトハウスで声明を発表。「これはアメリカにとっての勝利だ」と述べた。ホワイトハウスもこの日、外観をレインボーカラーで染め上げ、最高裁判決を歓迎した。
