Appleは9月のイベントでiPhoneのハイエンド機とローエンド機の新製品を発表するとWSJも報じる
今日（米国時間8/19）のWall Street Journalの記事によればAppleは9月にiPhone次世代モデルを発表するという。これにはハイエンド機とローエンド機が含まれる。これまでもわれわれはAppleが9月10日にイベントを開催し、そこでiPhoneを2機種発表するという情報を何度も聞いている。しかし今回のWSJの記事はこれをほとんど確定した事実という調子で報じているのが注目される。
WSJは発表される機種の内容については詳しく触れていないが、おそらくiPhone 5の後継機となる従来通り金属ボディーの5S（デュアル・フラッシュの内蔵やスペックの向上などが期待される）とカラフルなプラスティック製ケースで低価格のiPhone 5C（Sonny Dicksonからリークされた 上の写真のような）になるものと予想される。最終的な製品名がどうなるかはまだわからないが、基本的な内容は上記のとおりで間違いないはずだ。
もう一つ確からしいのは、iPhone 5Sにゴールドのケースが加わることだ。週末にわれわれが報じた後、AllThingsDも今朝確認した。発売開始が9月下旬になるというのも、これまでのiPhoneの発売スケジュール（発表後2週間で出荷開始）に合致する。
iPhoneを2種類一度に出荷するというのは供給上の困難が予想されるが、これまで何度も正確な観測を発表してきたアナリストのMing-Chi Kuoによれば、AppleはiPhone 5の製造能力を全面的にiPhone 5Cに振り向ける計画だという。
Appleのイベントに前後して最大のライバル、Samsungも新製品を発表するらしい。9月は仕事が忙しくなりそうだ。.
