「藍ちゃん」の愛称で親しまれたプロゴルファーの宮里藍（31）＝サントリー＝が5月26日、今季限りでの引退を発表した。NHKニュースなどが報じた。宮里の所属事務所が発表した。
宮里藍選手は沖縄県出身の３１歳。３人きょうだいの末っ子で、２人の兄の影響もあり４歳からゴルフを始め、高校３年生だった２００３年に国内女子プロゴルフツアーで、当時の史上最年少の１８歳で優勝して注目を集めました。
プロ転向後の２００５年には、国内ナンバーワンを決める日本女子オープンでも優勝するなど、女子ゴルフ界をリードしました。

2006年から本格参戦した米ツアーでは通算9勝を挙げ、10年6月には世界ランキング1位になるなど長く女子ゴルフ界を牽引してきた。
最近はパッティングやショットの不調で12年米ツアー、ウォルマートNWアーカンソー選手権以来優勝から遠ざかっていた。
29日に東京都内のホテルで行われる記者会見で、宮里自身が決断に至った経緯や心境などを語る。
宮里は宮城・東北高卒。兄の聖志、優作もプロ。
