フリースタイルスキー女子モーグルで、1998年の長野オリンピックから5大会連続で五輪出場を果たした上村愛子選手が現役引退することになった。3月26日に朝日新聞デジタルなどが報じた。
フリースタイルスキー・モーグルで、五輪に５回出場した上村愛子（３４）＝北野建設＝が今季限りで引退する意向を固めた。所属先の北野建設が２６日に正式に発表し、４月１日に上村本人が記者会見を行う予定。２７日に故郷の長野・白馬で始まる全日本選手権が現役生活最後のレースとなる。

公式サイトによると、上村選手は兵庫県出身の34歳。北野建設に所属している。長野県の白馬高校3年生のときに出場した長野オリンピックで7位入賞。ソルトレークシティーが6位、トリノが5位、バンクーバー、ソチとも4位と続き、悲願のメダル獲得はならなかった。今季引退した元アルペン男子の皆川賢太郎さんと、2009年に結婚している。
