今Apple Watchは、100ドル安く売られている。Best BuyB&H、Targetおよびおそらく他の店でも。例えば、38mmのSportモデルは249ドル、42mmバージョンは299ドルだ。これを、Apple Watch 2がすぐそこまで来ているからだと思う人もいるだろうが、それはありそうにない

むしろAppleは、同社初のスマートウォッチで市場シェアを把もうとしているようだ。Apple Watch(少なくともSportモデル)はWalmartでも扱っており、ホリデーシーズン前にディスカウントも行われた。

Best Buy、Targetを始めとするいくつかの店はバレンタインデーの数日前からこのセールを開始している。Apple Watchはギフトに最適であり、もちろんAppleもそれに乗じようとしている。

Appleは3月15日にイベントを開催する可能性が高いが、Apple Watchの大きなアップデートは期待できない。新しいバンドやファッション会社との提携はあっても、同じApple Watchになるだろう。

もう一つ指摘しておくべきなのは、Appleが自社の店舗ではApple Watchをディスカウントしないことだ。同社は、サードパーティー店舗に値引きを任せ、Apple Storeでは元の価格を維持している。
