国連の潘基文(パン・ギムン)事務総長は、中国中央テレビに出演。「中立性に問題がある」と批判されていたことについて「国連や事務総長は中立ではありえない」と反論した。

国連の潘基文(パン・ギムン)事務総長は、9月5日の中国中央テレビ(CCTV)に出演した。抗日戦争勝利70周年の記念パレード参観に対し、日本などから「中立性に問題がある」と批判されていたことについて「国連や事務総長は中立ではありえない」と反論した。

番組内で「昨日」と発言していることから、収録は4日とみられる。

潘氏は「昨日、最も印象を受けたのは、多くの退役兵がたくさんのメダルを下げて参加していたことだ。年老いたかもしれないが、精神はとてもまだ強く、貢献と犠牲は忘れられることはないだろう」と感想を述べた。

その上で、「ある国々から表明された懸念には、これまでも見解を明らかにしてきているが、過去から正しく学ばなければ、未来へ向かって正しい方向へ進むことは難しくなる。過去から学ぶこと、過去を教えてくれる人を探すことが、今回、私が訪中した目的だった」と発言。「国連や事務総長は中立であるべきだとの誤解があるが、中立(neutral)ではありえず、公平(impartial)だというべきだ」と述べた。

「ある国々」とは、主に日本からの批判を指しているとみられる。

潘氏はまた「今回の軍事パレードを習近平主席や各国の指導者たちと参観して、非常に壮観な行事に感銘を受けた。巨大なパレードであり、中国政府や国民の可能性と責任を感じた。もちろん第2次世界大戦の終結の記憶を共有することは大事で、私は中国人民の貢献と犠牲を完全に認識している」と、行事や中国政府の姿勢を評価した。
