ロシア南西部オブニンスクで、野良猫が、アパートの廊下に置き去りにされた男の子の赤ん坊を温め、凍死の危機から救った。地元テレビなどが1月15日に報じた。
アパートの住人が10日、大きな鳴き声を聞き、猫だと思ってドアを開けたところ、そこで泣いていたのは赤ん坊だった。赤ん坊は、猫が住み家にしている段ボール箱に入っていた。猫の名前は「マーシャ」でアパートに住んで3年になる。

その日の気温は氷点下だったが、マーシャが赤ん坊のそばに寄り添い、舐めて温めていた。住人は「助けを求めるように鳴いていた」と話す。赤ん坊は数時間にわたり放置されていたらしく、住人らは、マーシャが世話をしなければ助からなかっただろうと語った。
救急隊員が駆け付けると、マーシャは心配そうに赤ん坊を見つめていた。赤ん坊を搬送しようとすると、マーシャは救急車の後を心配そうについて行ったという。

赤ん坊は生後2~3カ月とみられ、健康に問題はなかった。警察が親の行方を捜している。
