イギリス王室は5月2日、ウィリアム王子（32）の妻で、第2子妊娠中のキャサリン妃（33）の陣痛が始まったため、ロンドン市内のセント・メアリー病院に入院したと発表した。47NEWSなどが伝えた。
第２子は性別にかかわらず、王位継承順位がチャールズ皇太子、ウィリアム王子、兄のジョージ王子に次ぐ４位となる。
第２子の出産予定日は既に過ぎており、英国民に期待が高まっている。

キャサリンさんは、ロンドンでの住居ケンジントン宮殿から車で移動した。ウィリアム王子も同行しているという。
セント・メアリー病院は、2013年にジョージ王子が生まれた病院と同じ。亡くなったダイアナ元皇太子妃も1982年に、ウィリアム王子とヘンリー王子を出産している。
