ロリン・マゼール氏、世界的なクラシック指揮者が死去 84歳

クラシックの指揮者の第一人者として世界的に知られるロリン・マゼール氏が7月13日、肺炎による合併症のためバージニア州の自宅で死去した。84歳だった。

クラシックの指揮者の第一人者として世界的に知られるロリン・マゼール氏が7月13日、肺炎による合併症のためアメリカ・バージニア州の自宅で死去した。84歳だった。ワシントン・ポストなどが報じた。

イギリスの新聞「ガーディアン」によると、マゼール氏は1930年生まれ。ベルリン放送交響楽団(現ベルリン・ドイツ交響楽団)やクリーブランド管弦楽団、パリ管弦楽団、ミュンヘン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ニューヨーク・フィルハーモニックなど、ヨーロッパやアメリカ合衆国の主要な交響楽団の音楽監督を40年以上務めてきた。1980年以降はウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団のニューイヤーコンサートの指揮者を7年連続で務め、日本でもおなじみとなった。1982年には、ウィーン国立歌劇場の総監督となっている。

CNNによると、150以上のオーケストラで指揮棒を振るい、少なくとも5000以上のオペラやコンサートで指揮者として活躍した。2008年にはニューヨーク・フィルハーモニックを率いて北朝鮮の平壌で公演を行った。2013年にもオマーンやミュンヘンなど、111のコンサートで指揮をとっていた。
