エジプト軍司令官を兼務するシシ国防相は3日夜(日本時間4日早朝)、国民向けにテレビ演説し、反政府デモ拡大による混乱を収拾するため憲法停止を宣言、モルシ大統領の権限をはく奪し、最高憲法裁判所長官が職務を引き継いだと発表した。エジプト軍による事実上のクーデターが発生した。

エジプト軍司令官を兼務するシシ国防相は3日夜(日本時間4日早朝)、国民向けにテレビ演説し、反政府デモ拡大による混乱を収拾するため憲法停止を宣言、モルシ大統領の権限をはく奪し、最高憲法裁判所長官が職務を引き継いだと発表した。共同通信が伝えた。エジプト軍による事実上のクーデターが発生した。

モルシ大統領は2日夜の演説で「命を懸けて正統性を守る」と述べて退陣を拒否したことに対して、エジプト軍は3日未明、「国民への脅しは許さない」との声明を出し、軍都の対立を鮮明にした。

3日、カイロ大学付近に集結していたモルシ大統領の支持者らに対し武装集団が発砲。少なくとも16人が死亡し、200人が負傷した

混乱収拾のため、エジプト大統領府は各政治勢力が参加する暫定内閣の設置を呼び掛けた

しかしエジプト軍は、政治的対立が解消されなければ介入するとしていた期限が過ぎた3日夕方(日本時間4日午前0時)、首都カイロ市内の大統領支持派が集まる複数の場所に装甲車を出して道路の封鎖を始めた

そして3日夜、エジプト軍のトップでもあるシシ国防相は現憲法を停止し、最高憲法裁判所長官が暫定大統領として国事を行うと国営テレビを通じて発表した。暫定大統領の下に「実務者内閣」を設けるとしたうえで、すべての政治・社会勢力を集めた憲法改正委員会をつくって憲法を改正し、早期に大統領選を実施するとしている。ただし、実施時期については明言していない。

朝日新聞デジタルによると、シシ国防相は「軍はムルシ氏に対し、すべての政治勢力との対話を求めてきたが、拒否されたためにこうした措置を取った」と説明した。

一方、ムルシ氏の出身母体のイスラム政治組織・ムスリム同胞団は「明らかなクーデターであり、選挙に基づく人々の意思を損なうものだ」と抗議する声明を発表した

モルシ大統領の動向は不明だが、軍の部隊が大統領が執務を行っているカイロ郊外の施設を鉄条網などで包囲し、装甲車を展開させるなどして大統領支持派のデモ隊の接近を阻止している

軍による事実上のクーデターで、民主的な選挙で選ばれた大統領が排除される事態となったエジプト。タハリール広場には反大統領派のデモ隊が集結して花火を打ち上げるなど歓喜の声を上げているが、反大統領派と大統領支持派のデモ隊の対立は解消されておらず、一触即発の状態が続いている。
