横浜市は9月5日、同市金沢区の「海の公園」内にある「犬の遊び場」2カ所を閉鎖し、蚊のモニタリング調査を始めた。デング熱に感染したと見られる同市南区の20代の主婦が、8月31日に海の公園で蚊に刺されていたことがわかったためだ。毎日新聞などが報じた。
市によると、主婦は先月１７、２４日に代々木公園を訪れ、２８日に高熱や関節痛を発症したが、感染発覚前の３１日に海の公園の「犬の遊び場」で、計４カ所を蚊に刺された。市は同公園で採取した蚊がウイルスを保持していないか調べ、調査結果が出るまで２カ所の犬の遊び場（計約１５５０平方メートル）を閉鎖する。

海の公園内で蚊に刺されてデング熱に感染した例は確認されていないが、横浜市の担当者は「感染する可能性があるため、予防的に（犬の遊び場の利用の）中止を決めた」と話しており、10日ごろまで蚊の採取を続けるという。
なお、厚労省検疫所によると、デングウイルスに感染した人は、発症後の4〜5日（最長12日）の期間に、ヒトスジシマカを介してデングウイルスを感染伝播する恐れがあるとされ、感染者の血を吸った蚊は4〜10日のウイルス増殖期間を経て、ウイルスを伝播させることができるとされる。
そのため横浜市の担当者は、「8月31日以降9月5日までに（海の公園内の）閉鎖場所周辺において蚊に刺されたとしても、感染の可能性はありません」と述べ、冷静な対応を呼びかけている。
