エジプトの博物館で館内丸ごと略奪の被害 騒乱に便乗したデモ隊の犯行か?

エジプト治安当局によるデモ隊の強制排除で多数の死傷者が出ているエジプト。その混乱のさなか、郊外の街の博物館が襲撃され、収蔵品が略奪されたことがわかった。

エジプト治安当局によるデモ隊の強制排除で多数の死傷者が出ているエジプト。その混乱のさなかに考古学博物館が襲撃され、収蔵品がほぼすべて略奪されていたことがわかった。

共同通信は以下のように伝えている。

古代エジプトの文化財を収蔵する同国ミンヤ県のマラウィ国立博物館が先週、騒乱の中で襲撃され、「聖獣」とされるトキなどのミイラや彩色木棺などほとんどの収蔵品が盗まれたことが20日までに分かった。博物館が丸ごと略奪されるという同国で前例のない被害で、内外の関係者に衝撃を与えている。

エジプトのニュース機関「ahram online」によると、教われたのは首都カイロから南へ約220キロの場所にあるミニヤ(Minya)の「国立マラウィ博物館」。プトレマイオス朝やローマ支配時代の遺物が多数収蔵されていたという。

博物館などを所管するエジプト考古省は「モルシ前大統領支持派のデモ隊が略奪を行った」との声明を出した。カイロで強制排除があった8月14日(日本時間同日午後)、博物館の庭で座り込みをしていたデモ隊が博物館や隣接する警察署などに乱入したと説明している。その際、警備員が殴られけがを負った模様だ。

暴徒は博物館のドアを壊して館内に押し入り、展示されていた美術品を壊したり盗み出したりするなどした。また、監視カメラも壊され、博物館事務室にあったオフィス用品も奪われたという。

考古省のモハメッド・イブラヒム大臣は「これは重大な損失だ。博物館が襲撃の対象になったことに深い悲しみを感じている」と述べ、略奪された収蔵品リストを検事総長に送り、密売・密輸を防ぐ対策を取ったという。また、国内のほかの博物館などに対しては通常よりも2時間早く閉館するよう指示を出した。

■貴重な美術品の流出を防げ

Egypt's Heritage Task Force」はFacebook上で、襲撃前のマラウィ博物館内の展示写真を公開し、「オークションハウス、アンティークショップ、税関当局に対し、写真の物品は略奪されたものであることをお知らせしたい」と緊急情報を流している。コメント欄には「1089点のうち1050点が盗まれた」との情報も書き込まれている。

ユネスコやインターポールは同博物館から略奪されたと見られる収蔵品を「レッドリスト」登録し、国外への流出や密売を防ぐ計画の準備を進めているという。

■衝突による死者は600人を超える

時事通信によると、治安当局とモルシ前大統領派の衝突による死者はエジプト政府発表で600人を超えた。しかし、前大統領派デモ隊の支持母体であるムスリム同胞団は「死者は数千人単位」との情報を出しており、いまだに正確な数字はわかっていない。
