ラマダンが始まったエジプト 暫定首相にベブラウィ元財務相 一方でモルシ前大統領復帰要求のデモ続く

軍によるクーデターが起きたエジプトでは、イスラム教徒にとって神聖な断食月ラマダンが10日から始まった。暫定政権の組閣が進み、マンスール暫定大統領は9日、暫定政権の首相に元財務相でリベラル派のエコノミスト、ハゼム・ベブラウィ氏(76)を任命し、組閣を要請した。外交担当の副大統領には、ノーベル平和賞受賞者で国際原子力機関(IAEA)前事務局長のムハンマド・エルバラダイ氏(71)を起用する。

軍によるクーデターが起きたエジプトでは、イスラム教徒にとって神聖な断食月ラマダンが10日から始まった。暫定政権の組閣が進み、マンスール暫定大統領は9日、暫定政権の首相に元財務相でリベラル派のエコノミスト、ハゼム・ベブラウィ氏(76)を任命し、組閣を要請した。外交担当の副大統領には、ノーベル平和賞受賞者で国際原子力機関(IAEA)前事務局長のムハンマド・エルバラダイ氏(71)を起用する。朝日新聞デジタルが伝えた。

ベブラウィ氏は、カイロ大学法学部を卒業後、フランスに留学し、パリ大学で経済学の博士号を取得した。2011年7月からシャラフ改造内閣で財務相を務めた。ムルシ政権の政策に反対していたことでも知られる。

副大統領となるエルバラダイ氏は当初、首相候補と目されていたが、ムスリム同胞団に次ぐイスラム系政治勢力のヌール党が、世俗派で政治力がある同氏の起用に反対した経緯がある。

ベブラウィ氏の首相就任に伴い、エジプトの安定を求める周辺国の支援も具体化している。産経新聞によると、サウジアラビアとアラブ首長国連邦(UAE)、クウェートの3カ国が10日までに、総額120億ドル(約1兆2000億円)相当の支援を行うことを相次いで決めた。フランス通信(AFP)などが伝えた。3カ国は、今回の政変の根源となった国民の生活苦を緩和し、経済専門家であるベブラウィ新首相の施策を支えることで、暫定政権の安定的発足を支援したい考えとみられる。

しかし、大統領宮殿の周辺では、モルシ前大統領を支持する大勢の人が、「モルシ氏が大統領に復帰するまで引かない」として抗議の座り込みを続けている。NHKによると、8日に、少なくとも51人が死亡したデモ隊と治安部隊の衝突に関し、エジプトの検察は10日、モルシ氏の支持母体のムスリム同胞団のトップ、バディヤ団長や幹部のベルタギ氏ら10人が、デモ隊のために武器を用意し治安部隊の要員を殺害するよう指示した疑いがあるとして、拘束するよう命じた。

エジプトではクーデター以降同胞団の幹部が相次いで拘束されており、今回も軍が、みずからの影響力が及ぶ検察を使って同胞団の弱体化を図っていると受け止められている。

イスラム社会で使われているヒジュラ暦の第9月。この月の1ヵ月間は毎日、イスラム教徒の義務として日の出から日没まで断食(サウム)を行う。

ラマダンは月の名前で、この言葉に断食の意味はない。日中は断食をするが、日が沈むと、普段の月よりは豪華なごちそうを食べるという習慣も根づいている。ラマダンには、旅行者が日中の断食を行う必要はないが、観光施設が早く閉館してしまったり、レストランが休業していたりするため、旅行者が影響を受けることがある。イスラム圏に旅行にでかけるのであれば、ラマダンがいつからいつまでなのか(ヒジュラ暦は純粋な太陰暦で、閏年の補正を行わないため、ラマダンが太陽暦でいつなのかは毎年大きく変動する)、ラマダン中の現地の情報は入手しておいたほうがよいといわれる。(コトバンク「ラマダン」より)
