モルシ派デモに催涙弾 エジプト首都カイロ、強制排除の動き

エジプトの首都カイロ中心部で8月13日、軍に解任されたモルシ前大統領支持派のデモ隊が反モルシ派と衝突し、ロイター通信によると、警察が催涙弾を発射する騒ぎとなった。モルシ派は少なくとも10人が負傷したとしている。治安部隊がモルシ派に催涙弾を発射し、12人を拘束した。現場はカイロ中心部タハリール広場近くで、モルシ派の数千人が座り込みを続けている郊外のナセルシティーからは離れている。

NHKによると、大統領職を解任されたモルシ前大統領の復権を求めるイスラム組織ムスリム同胞団のメンバーら数千人が、首都カイロで抗議の座り込みを続けているのに対し、治安当局側が強制排除に向けた動きを強めていた。

事実上のクーデター以降、1か月以上座り込みを続けるデモ隊に対して、エジプトの暫定政府は、欧米諸国などが仲介に乗り出したことなどを受けて、イスラム教の断食月ラマダンの間は強制的な排除に乗り出すことを控えてきた。

しかし今月に入り、各国の外交団の努力は失敗したとする声明を発表し、ラマダン明けの祝日が終わる12日の朝にも、治安部隊を展開させデモ隊を包囲する方針を示していた。

ムスリム同胞団のハッダード報道官は13日、「憲法に基づく正統性」が保証されることを条件に、危機回避に向けた調停のテーブルに着く用意があると述べたロイター通信が伝えた。治安当局による同胞団の座り込み排除が近いとの観測が強まる中、一応の柔軟姿勢をみせることで暫定政権側の出方をうかがう狙いがあるとみられる。

■軍事政権への逆行を懸念する政治家たち

一方で、ムスリム同胞団率いる政権を追放することを支援した有力な世俗主義派の政治家の一部は、次の民主的な政権移行で軍事政権体制へと逆戻りしかねないことを懸念し始めている

こうした政治家の懸念をあおっているのが、エジプト軍トップのシシ国防相が大統領選に立候補する可能性が浮上していることだ。政治的混乱によって国民が分裂し、数十に及ぶ対立する政党や党派が生まれているエジプトで、軍は国内で最も人気のある、尊敬された組織として揺るぎない地位を確立している。

シシ氏は立候補について直接言及はしていないが、尋ねられると、その可能性を排除しなかった
