マケイン氏がエジプト暫定政府を非難「大虐殺を行っている」

アメリカ共和党のマケイン上院議員は8月18日放送のCNNテレビの番組で、これまでに800人以上の死者が出ているエジプトの騒乱を「大虐殺」だと非難し、オバマ政権はエジプト政府への軍事援助を停止すべきだと主張した。

マケイン氏はこの中で、「彼ら(暫定政府側)は組織的に大虐殺を行っている」と指摘。年13億ドル(約1270億円)の対エジプト軍事支援を中止し、アメリカの「影響力」を行使する必要を強調した。

エジプトでは、18日に新たに110人以上の死亡が確認された。治安部隊が14日、モルシ前大統領支持派の座り込みを排除してからの死者数は900人を超えた。

■ シシ国防相「テロ行為は厳しく対処」

暫定政府を主導する軍のトップで副首相も兼ねるシシ国防相が、強制排除のあと初めて公の場に姿を現し、軍や治安機関の幹部を一堂に集めた会合で演説した

この中でシシ国防相は「政府の建物を攻撃するなどテロ行為を黙って見過ごすことはできない。厳しく対処する」と述べ、ムスリム同胞団などによる抗議行動を一段と厳しく取り締まる姿勢を示した。

■ 「中立な報道を」エジプト外相が批判

エジプトのファハミー外相は18日、首都カイロで記者会見し、軍主導の暫定政権がモルシ派を弾圧していると国内外メディアが報じていることについて、「バランスを欠いている。もっと中立的に報道すべきだ」と批判した

会見で、モルシ氏の出身母体、イスラム組織ムスリム同胞団のデモ隊が銃を撃つ様子や、国際テロ組織アルカイダの旗を持つところなどを撮影した写真を報道陣に配布。一方で、16日に大きな衝突が起きたカイロ中心部のラムセス広場に近いモスク(イスラム教礼拝所)から逃げ出したとされる女性に治安部隊が水を差し出す様子が写ったビデオも紹介した。
