［ワシントン ４日 ロイター］ - オバマ米大統領は４日、今回の上院選挙で改選される州は共和党支持に傾きやすく、２期目の政権で行われる中間選挙としては、アイゼンハワー政権下で民主党が議席を大幅に減らした１９５８年以来最も厳しい状況かもしれない、との見方を示した。
大統領は、投票に行くように呼びかけたラジオ番組で、上院で改選になるのはわずか３分の１で、今回の周期では、改選が行われるのは主に共和党に支持が傾いている州だ、と指摘。
大統領は「今回の選挙周期は、恐らくアイゼンハワー大統領以来民主党にとり最も好ましくない状況だ。共和党に傾きがちな州が多数ある」と語った。
