AP通信によると、息子のリチャード・ドクトロウ氏が21日、ニューヨークの病院で、肺がんによる合併症で亡くなったことを認めた。
ドクトロウは1986年に小説『紐育万国博覧会』で全米図書賞、1976年に『ラグタイム』で、1989年に『ビリー・バスゲイト』、2005年に『The March』で全米批評家協会賞を受賞した。
