ウォーレン議員はシンクタンクのルーズベルト協会が主催した金融改革会合の基調演説で、「今日、4つの大手銀行が5年前よりも30%資産を拡大している。そして5つの大手銀行がアメリカの銀行資産全体の半分以上を占めている」と述べた。

「5年前、金融危機が過度に集中する危険性を目の当たりにした我々が今、こんな事態になっていることを誰が考えただろうか」

ウォーレン議員は商業銀行業務と投資銀行業務を分離させる新しいグラス・スティーガル法(1933年に制定されたアメリカの銀行法のうち、銀行業と証券業の分離について規定した法律)の通過を促した。

ウォーレン議員はハーバード大学法学部教授で消費者金融保護局(CFPB)の創設にも携わり、2012年11月の議会選挙で上院に当選、銀行委員会委員に就任している。また、2011年に発生した「ウォール街を占拠せよ」運動の理論的指導者とも言われている。
