チェコやドイツなど中欧で豪雨が続き、各国で洪水が発生、被害が広がっている。朝日新聞デジタルは、これまでに死者はチェコ、ドイツ、オーストリア、ポーランドで計１２人にのぼったとロイター通信が伝えた、と報じている。（朝日新聞デジタル2013/6/5 1:26）
大規模な洪水被害を受け、ドイツのメルケル首相は４日、オーストリア国境に近い南東部パッサウを視察。被災地へ１億ユーロの緊急支援を実施することを明らかにした。
ドナウ川など市内で合流する３つの河川が氾濫したパッサウの被害状況を時事通信が次のように報じている。
通常は５メートルのドナウ川の水位は、５００年ぶりとなる１２．９メートルまで上昇。一部で水が建物の２階まで達したほか、停電や断水が続き、住民は避難生活を強いられている。

ＢＢＣが４日（現地時間）報じた記事によると、ドイツ南部、東部ではエルベ川などが氾濫し洪水の恐れがあるとして、警戒を強めている。また、政府が非常事態宣言をしたチェコでは、首都プラハの地下鉄は運行を停止、普段は観光客で賑わうカレル橋も閉鎖された。西部で約３０００人が避難しているという。
豪雨は５月３０日ごろから始まり、チェコやオーストリアのほか、ドイツ、スロバキア、ハンガリーなど被害は広範囲に及んだ。ロイター通信によると、洪水の被害が特に大きいのはドナウ川沿い。ドイツを流れるドナウ川とライン川の一部と、オーストラリアを通るドナウ川全域では、穀物や石炭などを運ぶ船舶の運航が中断されたという。
中欧では２００２年にも大規模な豪雨、洪水があった。
