イギリス王室は7月21日、ウィリアム王子と妻キャサリン妃の長男ジョージ王子が22日に2歳の誕生日を迎えるのに合わせ、Twitterで写真を公開した。時事ドットコムは次のように報じた。
写真は今月初めに東部サンドリンガムで行われたジョージ王子の妹シャーロット王女の洗礼式の後、エリザベス女王の別邸サンドリンガム・ハウスの庭で撮影された。洗礼式の公式写真と同様、写真家マリオ・テスティーノ氏が担当した。
王室は声明で、「写真は王子夫妻と家族が過ごした特別な日の幸せな瞬間を捉えている。一家はジョージ王子の誕生日のお祝いにこの写真を分かち合えることを喜んでいる」とコメント。
