静岡県の沼津港深海水族館がTwitter上で紹介したある商品が、話題になっている。
その商品は、「ダイオウイカッター」。館内の土産ショップで販売している、名前の通りダイオウイカの形をしたカッターだ。同水族館が4月15日、公式Twitter上に写真を投稿し、「全く売れず...」と商品の不評を嘆いた。
「マッコウクジラ、倒せます」という、商品のキャッチフレーズが記された台紙も写っている。
この写真が投稿されると、Twitter上で反響が広がった。「通販可能ならほしい」「俺買います」「おいくらでしょうか？」などと、商品を求める声が相次いだ。
インパクトのあるキャッチフレーズについては、「こんな素晴らしいキャッチフレーズまでついているのに。私欲しいです」「マッコウクジラ、倒せますw」といった好意的な反応があった。
来館者の中には、「この間そちらに行きましたけど、そんなあったんです！？」と、商品の存在を知らなかったことを悔やむ人もいた。
商品が特撮映画「大怪獣ガメラ」に登場する怪獣に似ていることから、「ガメラも倒せそう」「ギロンに見えますね」 などの反応も見られた。
水族館の館長は4月16日、ハフィントンポストの取材に対し、「キャッチフレーズがすごく好きなので、その面白さに気付いてほしいと思った」とツイートした経緯を説明。反響があったことについて、「驚いている。これをきっかけに興味を持ってもらい、水族館に来て購入してほしい」と期待した。
「ダイオウイカッター」は1個2500円で販売されており、水族館としては通信販売はしていないという。
