宇多田ヒカル、8年半ぶり新アルバム タイトルは未定、9月に発売

シンガー・ソングライターの宇多田ヒカル(33)が、9月28日に通算6枚目のオリジナル・フルアルバム(タイトル未定)を発売することが7日、わかった。

宇多田ヒカル、9月に8年半ぶり新アルバム

シンガー・ソングライターの宇多田ヒカル(33)が、9月28日に通算6枚目のオリジナル・フルアルバム(タイトル未定)を発売することが7日、わかった。オリジナルアルバムは2008年3月に発売した『HERAT STATION』以来、実に8年半ぶり。あわせて新ビジュアルも公開された。

2010年12月10日の横浜アリーナ公演をもってアーティスト活動を休止し、“人間活動”に専念していた宇多田は、今年4月4日、NHK朝の連続テレビ小説『とと姉ちゃん』の主題歌「花束を君に」のオンエアをもって、5年4ヶ月ぶりに再始動。日本テレビ系『NEWS ZERO』のエンディングテーマとして提供した新曲「真夏の通り雨」とともに、デジタルシングルとして4月15日に同時発売し、各配信サイトのランキングを制覇した。

宇多田は過去に5作のオリジナルアルバムを発表。16歳でリリースした1st『First Love』(99年)でいきなりオリコン史上最高の765万枚をセールスする金字塔を打ち立て、2nd『Distance』(01年)は447.2万枚、3rd『DEEP RIVER』(02年)は360.5万枚、4th『ULTRA BLUE』(06年)は90.9万枚、前作『HEART STATION』(08年)は101.1万枚とメガヒットを連発してきた。ギネスブックには、アルバムを3作連続で300万枚以上売り上げた「日本で最もアルバムを売ったアーティスト」として認定。ベスト盤2作を含めたアルバム7作のトータルセールスは2000万枚を突破している。

特設サイトではツイッターに寄せられたファンからの質問に答える企画を展開しているが、「ファーストアルバムが売れた時の気持ちはどんな感じでしたか?」との質問に対し「一生懸命作った作品が受け入れられてることを嬉しく思いつつも、急に注目されてそれまで当たり前だった自由がなくなって、戸惑いと『ああもう後戻りできない』感が大きかった」と胸中を吐露。「当時はデビューしたことを後悔したけど、今は沢山の貴重な体験が出来たことに感謝してる」と明かしている。

新アルバムには、前出の「花束を君に」「真夏の通り雨」のほか、“人間活動中”の12年11月に『ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:Q』テーマソングとして配信リリースされた「桜流し」をCD初収録。その他の曲はすべて、書き下ろしの新曲となる。関係者は「よろこびとかなしみをひとつにしたあの声は、彼女にしか書けない言葉と旋律で物語を紡ぎます。ポップミュージックの生命力、その瑞々しさは色褪せず、その豊かさは汲めども尽きない、ということ。このアルバムにはそれが満ち溢れています」と自信をにじませている。

なお、特設サイトでは、「花束を君に」の配信ヒットを記念し、大切な人に花束を贈った時の写真・動画を募集中。投稿された写真・動画を元にビデオを制作して特設サイトで紹介するほか、カラオケJOYSOUNDの背景映像としても公開予定。
