トルコの最大都市イスタンブールの観光名所スルタンアフメット地区で1月12日、爆発があり、少なくとも10人が死亡、15人がけがをした。地元当局の話として、ロイター通信などが伝えた。

爆発があったのは現地時間で午前10時半ごろ、観光客に人気のイスラム教礼拝施設「ブルーモスク」の近く。爆発原因は明らかになっていないが、地元テレビは、自爆テロの可能性を報じた。産経ニュースによると、ブルーモスクのほか、アヤソフィア博物館など有名な歴史的施設が立ち並ぶ地区で、日本人を含む多数の外国人観光客が訪れているという。

トルコでは、2015年10月に首都のアンカラで100人以上が犠牲となる爆弾テロが起きたほか、12月にもイスタンブールの空港や地下鉄でテロとみられる爆発が相次ぐなど治安が悪化している
