豊島屋
鎌倉市の海岸3カ所の命名権を購入した菓子製造業の豊島屋が、海岸の名前をそのままにする方針を発表した。豊島屋は鎌倉のお土産の定番、「鳩サブレー」を製造する企業だ。
同社が名前を募集したところ、「そのままがいい」という意見が多かったという。
同社の発表によると、由比ガ浜は「由比ガ浜海水浴場」、材木座は「材木座海水浴場」、腰越は「腰越海水浴場」。それぞれ最も多くの応募があり、長年地元で親しまれた名称がそのまま生かされる形となった。今夏から３年間、使われる予定。久保田社長は「昔ながらの慣れ親しんだ名前になってよかった。海水浴場という言葉が死語になりつつある中でこの呼び名が入っていていいと思う」と語った。

命名権は年間1200万円。豊島屋は鎌倉市と10年の契約を結んでいる。
愛称などを募っているのは、由比ガ浜、材木座、腰越の３海水浴場。「鳩サブレー」で知られる同社が昨年５月、市から３カ所のネーミングライツを年間１２００万円、１０年契約で取得。昨年は「海開きに間に合わない」と見送っていた。
