パキスタン政府当局は22日、同国南部を襲った熱波の影響で、南部の都市カラチで20─21日の週末に120人超が死亡したことを明らかにした。

パキスタン政府当局は22日、同国南部を襲った熱波の影響で、南部の都市カラチで20─21日の週末に120人超が死亡したことを明らかにした。

20日には気温が摂氏44度まで上昇し、21日は同43度で推移。

同国ではちょうどイスラム教のラマダン(断食月)が開始されたばかり。電力網が故障して停電が発生したことも被害に拍車をかけたとみられる。金融中心街や住宅など2000万人に停電の被害が及んだ。
