アメリカ人歌手のケイティ・ペリーのTwitterフォロワー数が1億人を突破した、と6月17日にTwitterが発表した。
Twitterは公式アカウントで、ケイティ・ペリーが2009年2月21日に初めてツイートした投稿からこれまでのツイートをまとめ、フォロワー数の推移とともに伝える動画を投稿し祝福した。

これに対し、ケイティペリーは、「ありがとうTwitter、いつも私に自分の声を届ける機会をくれて」と応じた。
