これを受けて、任天堂のTVゲームソフト「スプラトゥーン」のイベントで、「あなたはどっち派？ きのこの山 vs たけのこの里」と題して、ネット上で対抗戦が開かれることになった。発売元の明治が協力しているのが特徴だ。それぞれのチームに分かれてゲーム上の試合で勝敗つけるという。イベントの開催期間は、6月18日午前9時から、19日午前9時まで。
姉妹商品である両者は、形以外にも違いがあり、「きのこの山」はスナック部分がクラッカーなのに対し、「たけのこの里」はクッキーだ。ネット上では、きのこ派とたけのこ派がすでに臨戦態勢に入っており、「俺はきのこ派」「私はたけのこの里が好き」など、さまざまな意見が飛び交っている。
