トカゲ男、アメリカに出現か？怪しすぎる証拠写真が物議 | HuffPost

サウスカロライナ州で一人の女性が衝撃的な写真を激写した。ウロコの様な肌に赤い目。伝説のトカゲ男だ。

8月2日、アメリカ・サウスカロライナ州ビショップビルで、一人の女性が信じられない物を目撃した。彼女が見たのは木陰から走りさるトカゲ男だったのだ。慌てて携帯電話を取り出して写真を撮ったが、冷静さを取り戻すまでにしばらく時間がかかった。

衝撃的な写真だ。しかしこういっては失礼だが、まるでサイエンスフィクション専門チャンネルで深夜に放送される安っぽいSF番組に出てくる生き物のようにも見える。

それに、ビッグフットなどの未確認生物の写真といえば、ぼやけているのが定番だが、このトカゲ男は、写真に撮られたかったのではないかと思うくらいはっきりと写っている。

トカゲ男の写真を撮ったのは、サウスカロライナ州サムター出身のサラさんという女性だ。彼女は写真を撮ったあと、地元のテレビ局WCIV-TVのニュース番組「ABC News4」に、この衝撃的な遭遇を報告した。

彼女が友人と一緒にトカゲ男を目撃したのは、ビショップビルにあるスケープオラ沼の近くだという（下の地図の赤印の場所）。彼女は「神に誓って、話をでっちあげたりはしていません。とても興奮しました」とテレビ局に説明している。

スケープオラ沼周辺の地域では、約30年も前からトカゲ男の目撃情報が寄せられている。最初に目撃されたのは1988年。真夜中に沼の近くの道路でパンクしたタイヤを交換しようとしていた若い男性が、何かの生き物に追い駆け回されたと証言している。

動物専門チャンネル「アニマルプラネット」によれば、目撃者たちはトカゲ男を「人間のような姿をしていて、身長が7フィート（約213cm）、皮膚は緑色のウロコ状で、手足の指は三本」と描写しているという。加えて、今回写真を撮られたトカゲ男のように、燃えるような赤い目をしているそうだ。

2012年に放送された番組「事実か嘘か：超常現象ファイル」ではトカゲ男伝説を特集し、番組の中である実験を行っている。元FBI特別捜査官ベン・ハンセン氏がトカゲ男に扮して森の中を歩く様子をチームが撮影し、人々がどう反応するかを見たのだ。

下記の映像は、その時に撮影したものだ。

「実験の目的は、不明瞭な映像が、どれだけソーシャルメディアやオンラインで話題になって拡散するかを調べることでした」とハンセン氏はハフポストUS版に説明してくれた。

「そのために、トカゲ男に扮装する技術をもっている男性の協力を得て、トカゲ男スーツを作ってもらいました。心配だったのは、どうやったら他の人たちに気付かれず撮影できるかです。もし、トカゲ男姿で森を歩いているところをハンターに目撃されたら、すぐに撃ち殺されてしまうでしょうから！」

そのハンセン氏は、8月2日に撮影されたトカゲ男の写真は、疑わしいと考えている。

「これはあからさまなデマです。こういうのは大抵、観光客を引き寄せるために行われます。それは通りを歩いている有名人を撮影したパパラッチ写真のようなもので、有名人の代わりにゴジラのような生き物を写しているだけです」

ちなみに、ハフポストUS版でも、これまでにトカゲ人間について取りあげている。その中のひとり、自称トカゲ男のパフォーマンスアーティスト、エリック・スピローグ氏は、トカゲになるために全身を緑色のウロコのタトゥーで覆った上に美容整形手術をし、舌を二股にした。

スピローグ氏にスケープオラ沼で目撃されたトカゲ男について尋ねると、次のようなツイートが返ってきた。

この地域には爬虫類の品位を落とすような、デマやプロパガンダがあふれています。今回のことも怪しいと思いますよ。

それにしても、アメリカ人たちは本当にトカゲ男や、ビッグフット、その他の未知の生物が本当にいると信じているのだろうか？ ABC News4も、トカゲ男が本当に存在するかどうかまだ確信をもってはいないようだ。

果たして本当にトカゲ男が発見されたのだろうか？。

ネット上でもトカゲ男に関して次のようなコメントが飛び交っている。

「右足が衣装から消えているように見えるな...笑」
「おそらくビックフットと戦ったんだね」
「衣装の足には値札がついていたんだろうな」
「この写真、まるで『ウルトラマン』の一場面みたいだ」
「どう見ても、衣装のように見えるけど。おそらくサインをもらうとか一緒に写真をとってもらうために近づいて行ったんじゃないの。あんまり怖そうじゃないもの」
「これが証拠？出来の悪いコスチュームだったら、そうともいえるけれど、それだけのことだろう。でも、地元のモンスターを観光客用にアピールするにはいいかもね」
