移住先の集落で大麻を隠し持っていたとして、関東信越厚生局麻薬取締部と神奈川、長野両県警などは、長野県大町市や池田町の過疎の限界集落などに住む27～64歳の男女22人を大麻取締法違反（所持、営利目的所持）の疑いで逮捕し、11月25日に発表した。時事ドットコムなどが報じた。
麻薬取締部などは、それぞれの自宅などから乾燥大麻計８キロと大麻草７本などを押収した。逮捕されたのは長野県池田町の自営業荒田裕（４８）、妻久子（３６）両容疑者ら。裕容疑者は容疑を認めた上で共謀を否定し、久子容疑者は容疑を否認している。２２人のうち１６人がおおむね容疑を認めているという。
同部によると、逮捕された男女はいずれも長野県内外からの移住者で、うち２人は静岡県湖西市に転居していた。限界集落の周辺で音楽イベントを主催するなどしながら大麻を栽培し、乱用していたとみられる。

逮捕容疑は23日や24日、それぞれの自宅で乾燥大麻などを所持するなどした疑い。
麻薬取締部は、22人は集落を拠点に緩やかな「大麻コミュニティー」を形成し、集落が大麻乱用者が集まる地域になっていた可能性が高いとみて解明を進める。
大町市と池田町は、北アルプスに近い県北西部の隣接自治体。毎日新聞によると、大町市では人口減少に歯止めをかけるために移住者への補助金制度がある。容疑者5人が住む大町市美麻は2006年に大町市に編入合併された旧美麻村で、同村はかつて麻の栽培が盛んな地域だったという。
