ミャンマーで8日に実施された2011年の民政移管後初の総選挙で、アウンサンスーチー党首率いる最大野党、国民民主連盟(NLD)が70%以上の議席を獲得する見通しとなっている。

ミャンマーで8日に実施された2011年の民政移管後初の総選挙で、アウン・サン・スー・チー党首率いる最大野党、国民民主連盟(NLD)は、独自集計の結果、7割以上の議席を獲得する勢いだと述べた。軍系の与党、連邦団結発展党(USDP)も敗北を認めており、政権交代の可能性が出てきた。

USDPのテイ・ウー党首代行はロイターに対し「われわれは敗北した」と語った。

またNLDの広報担当者はロイターに対し、中部の人口密集地域で議席の9割以上を獲得する勢いだと述べた。

こうしたなか、米ホワイトハウスのアーネスト報道官は、今回の選挙について、ミャンマー国民の勝利であり歓迎する意向を表明する一方、民主的な手続きを注意深く見守る考えを示した。[ヤンゴン/ネピドー/ヒンタダ/ワシントン 9日 ロイター]
