「鹿が選挙ポスターを食べてる!」奈良では普通なの? 選管に聞いてみた

鹿でおなじみの奈良県、こうした事態は頻繁にあるのだろうか?

6月22日に公示され、7月10日に投開票される参院選を前に、奈良市内で鹿が選挙広報のポスターを食べてしまうという驚きの瞬間を収めたツイートが話題になっている。関連して、2013年7月に行われた奈良市議会議員選挙では鹿が候補者のポスターを食べる瞬間もTwitter上に投稿されていた。

奈良の鹿は、奈良公園(奈良市)一帯に生息し、国の天然記念物に指定されている。頭数は一般財団法人「奈良の鹿愛護会」によると、およそ1500頭(2015年度)。奈良市内では、こうした事態は頻繁にあるのだろうか?

ハフポスト日本版が奈良市の選挙管理委員会事務局の担当者に話を聞くと、なんと「頻繁にではないが時々ある」とのことだった。選挙管理委員会でも対応に苦慮しているという。

——選挙のポスターを鹿が食べてしまうという事態はよくあるんでしょうか?

頻繁とは言えませんが、時々ありますね。確か、前回の知事・県議選(2015年)でもあったと県警から聞きました。破られたということでイタズラと思い捜査したが、どうも鹿じゃないか?という結論に落ち着いたとか。

——破れているのが見つかったらどのように対処されますか?

もちろん、鹿ではなく人間が破っていた場合、公職選挙法違反にあたりますね。破られているポスターを見つけたら、選挙管理委員会事務局では、県警に届けたり候補者にお知らせしたり、必要なことはしています。その後は県警が捜査することになりますね。ただ、それほど頻繁に巡回しているわけではないので、全部に気づけるかどうかはわかりませんが。

——ネット上で話題になっているのをご存知ですか?

はい、「上からビニールかけたら」とか、「鹿が届かないように高さを上げるべき」とか色々ご意見頂戴していると聞いています。ただ、候補者によって貼る時期がマチマチだったり、高くすると交通の妨げになったり、色々と難しい側面もあるんです。選管でも苦慮していますね。

——奈良市内ではどのあたりまで鹿が出没するのでしょうか?

奈良の鹿は基本的には奈良公園で暮らしていますが、市街地まで降りてくることもあります。(近鉄奈良駅近くの)商店街の中を鹿が歩いていたというような目撃は頻繁にありますしね。選挙ポスターの掲示板でいうと600基余りあるうち、だいたい50基ぐらいが鹿の出る範囲にあるでしょうかね。
