愛媛・新居浜市の観光案内サイトになりすました偽サイトがインターネット上に作られ、利用者がカジノ関連サイトへ誘導される仕組みになっていたとして、新居浜市が公式サイトで注意を呼びかけた。
偽サイトは「niihamakanko.com」というドメインを使用している。共同通信などによると、このドメインは新居浜市の運輸観光課が2016年3月まで観光サイトとして使用していたが、サイトのコンテンツを市のホームページ内に移すことになり、4月にドメインやサーバー使用の契約を打ち切ったという。
ところがその後、市が手放したドメインを何者かが入手。これを悪用し、偽サイトを作成したとみられる。市は公式サイトを通じて、利用者に向けて注意を呼び掛けている。産経ニュースによると、15日現在で被害や苦情は確認されていないという。
偽サイトのデザインは、一見すると「本物」の観光サイトと似ている。ただ、「新居浜太鼓祭りのメインスポンサーとして、カジノ攻略から協賛金をいただくことになりました」などの記載があり、リンクをクリックするとオンラインカジノのプレーを勧めるサイトに遷移する仕組みになっている。

観光案内サイトは、市内の業者にサーバーやドメイン使用料として年額およそ2万8千円を支払い、運用していたという。市の担当者は朝日新聞デジタルの取材に対し、「手放した旧ドメインを第三者が利用できるとは思わなかった」と述べている。
