アメリカのフィラデルフィアで、解体中の4階建てビルが、隣の2階建てビルを巻き込んで倒壊した。2階建てのビルにはリサイクルショップがあり、中にいた客らが閉じ込められた。10人以上が負傷し、既に女性1人の死亡者が確認されたという。
まだがれきの中に人が取り残されている可能性があり、レスキュー隊が救出活動を続けている。AP通信によると、生存者は、ほとんどが軽傷で、病院に運ばれたあと夕方までに帰ったとのこと。
ロイターが報じるところによると、通りを挟んで作業をしていた人の証言では、正面の支持梁からクレーンが倒れ、そして、隣のビルに隣接した壁が揺れはじめたということだった。

このビルは商業用で、解体作業が進められていた。米メディアによると、ビルと壁を共有する格好で建っていたアパートも崩れ落ちたほか、隣接する１階建てのリサイクルショップが大きく損壊した。
