多くの方の協力を得て、ついに!ついに!!本人からのメッセージを直接受け取り、この週末に出会うことができたのである。

ワールドカップの決勝も終わり、街中の装飾もクリスマスムードに移りかわろうとしている中、我々「ラグビーW杯イングランド大会を楽しもう」取材陣には1つだけ心残りなことがあった。

南アフリカ戦の後半、もっとも白熱したシーンで国際映像が映した「カモーン!ジャパーン!!」と渾身の力を込めて叫んでくれていた、あの情熱的な女性。

あの女性にどうしても会いたい。会って一言お礼が言いたい。

ジャパンの公式ユニフォームを身にまとった彼女をあなたもきっと一度は目にしているはず。

彼女の映像は、生中継の試合時だけではなく、日本大会へ繋ぐ閉会式の映像でも使用され、今や彼女は国際的にあの歴史的試合の象徴的な一人になっている。

そこで私たちは、「彼女に会いたい」というメッセージを日本語、英語でたくさんの場所に残し、その後多くの方の協力を得て、ついに!ついに!!本人からのメッセージを直接受け取り、この週末に出会うことができたのである。

お名前はサリーさんと言う。

写真のようにとってもチャーミングでかわいらしい女性だった。本取材を心から喜んでくれ、日本でこんなにも自分のことが話題になっているとは驚きだと、興奮気味に話してくれた。

ご本人からの許可を得て、サリーさんから皆さんへのメッセージ動画をYOUTUBEでお届けする。

彼女は私たちが思っている以上に、日本ラグビーの大ファンであった。

その証拠に、現在、彼女は自身のフェイスブックの写真として、南ア戦勝利後の日本チームの写真を使っている。

ゆっくり時間をとってもらいテムズ川のほとりでインタビューをしてきたので、少しずつ公開していきたいと思う。

ラグビーファン全員を代表してお礼を伝えてきました。
