（カナダのウェスト・バンクーバーに住む）5歳のピアニスト、ライアン・ワン君は、驚くべき才能を持つ天才少年であると同時に、礼儀正しく雄弁で、非常に愛らしい。
エレン・デジェネレスの番組『エレンの部屋』に5月27日に出演したライアン君は、インタビューで観客の心をつかんだ後、『Variations On A Russian Theme』（ロシアの主題による変奏曲）を演奏して大喝采を浴びた。
ライアン君は、今年3月には（ピアノコンクールのスカラシップ受賞者として）カーネギーホールでも演奏した。[7月にはイタリアや上海での公演が決まっている]
ライアン君の最も良いところは、純粋に演奏が好きなことが伝わってくる点だろう。母親であるアイリスさんは、3月にカナダのテレビ番組「Global News」で、「彼は優勝できるかどうかなどと尋ねたことがない。（中略）大きな舞台の上で、人々の前で演奏することを本当に楽しんでいる」と話している。
演奏する音楽をどうやって覚えるのかとデジェネレス氏に尋ねられたライアン君の答えは明確だった。「その音楽が好きなだけ。僕の指に入ってくるんだよ」
